Kep National Park has received an enlargment of the existing trail road. 

Created in 1993 and covering over 66km2, the Kep National Park has become more and more popular over the past 10 years with an increasing number of visitors.  An 8km long trail road was allowing tourist and locals to roam accross the luxurious vegetation and offers some of the best panorama of the province, overlooking the near by Islands. 

The exisitng trail is now widened and will soon be poured in concrete with the aim to ease the access for the tourists. work are extending on a 6km distance.  Kep governor indicated that lightnings will be added as well as a Nature Tourism Center. 

Work are expected to be completed before September 2022. 

Council for the development of Cambodia has awarded in early 2019 a licence to the Try Pheap Group for development investments on the Koh Tonsay Island.

The island of 180 Ha will be developed on 140Ha and it will include a 5 star hotel, Casino, Residential areas, Commerces, public spaces and also transportation. Over 130 Millions USD will be invested in this project during the years to come.

This project comes in conjunction with the newly inaugurated pier leading to Koh Tonsay, re-enforcing the effort made to increase the tourism and create more jobs and revenue for the Kep Province.

The official kick-off ceremony was held in September 2021 ceremony with the governor of Kep. Buildng Material are now being transported to the Island. 

Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister of Public Works and Transport, stated that the Royal Government is currently working on plans to improve National Roads 31, 33, and 41.

This announcement has been made during the inauguration of the new tourism port.

The anticipated work of these nationals road should allow a clear improvement of the means to join Kep coastal down from Phnom Penh, it comes in support of the effort to boost tourism in the province of Kep. 

 National Road 41 connects to national roads 3 and 4

National Road 31 connects to National Road 3 in Kampot province’s Kampong Trach district

National Road 33 connects Kep province to Kampot’s Kampong Trach district.

This is yet another positive signal sent by the Government on its strong intention to further develop the tourism sector in Kep. The new roads will also helps the locals to export more easily their agricultural and fishing production. 

Kep had an old pier used to board on the small wooden boat for a trip to Koh Tonsay Island. It has been completely destroyed to leave place to a brand new one, larger and bigger. 

Inaugurated on the 19th of January 2022 by Ministry and Kep officials, this new tourism port has been smartly designed so that we are remembered the emblematic Crab of Kep.

Our province has 12 islands, Koh Tonsay being located at about 4km from the coast, all of them contributing to a very nice panorama enjoyable from the Kep coast. 

This new port will without any doubt help boosting the tourism, not only for the Koh Tonsay Islands, where a large tourism project is to be developed on over 140 Hectares,  but also for the others islands and is also offering a new way to connect Kep with the neighboring country and Phu Qoc island (Vietnam) . 

KEP Multi Purpose Port

An agreement has been reached in August 2021 concerning the construction of a Multi-purpose port in the Province of Kep.

The port will be located in the area of the White Horse (sei Sa), first area of Kep when you arrive from Kampot and built by a local company.

The Main duty of this new port will be to serve the tourists and transport goods and fishes of local people, from Kep to other provinces on the Cambodia coast. WE can also expect this infrastructure to serve as an entry point for tourist from Vietnam and Thailand. 

The Kep Governor, Som Piseth, declared during a meeting last year that it will strengthen the tourism sector and “provide many benefits and job opportunities for local people as well as contribute to poverty reduction for the people of Kep province, who mostly depend on fishing and tourism services”.

It will be the first Sea port of Kep and its expected to be completed by end of 2023 / start 2024 with a project duration of 24 months.
